In the agriculture world, CSA stands for community supported agriculture. It’s an innovative method for getting fresh, local vegetables (and more) directly to the consumer. Furthermore, there are special perks created by the program for the local community and the farmer, too. The Pennsylvania Vegetable Marketing & Research Program (PVMRP) visited Dave Miller of Miller Plant Farm in York, PA to dive into the nitty gritty of CSAs and hear directly from his management perspective to understand how a farm operation can get fresh vegetables to a 500 person CSA on a regular basis, from June through October. It doesn’t have to be PA Produce Month (August) in Pennsylvania to join a CSA. You can research farms in your area and often join any time throughout the year. Hear what Dave has to say then decide if CSAs are right for you.
